Job Responsibilities:

The role of the Vice president and General Manager is to manage and grow your divisions revenue and operational performance while maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction. This role has high visibility with our clients as well as internally due to the need to connect required service support areas of the business such as Warehouse, Accounting, Purchasing, Safety, Human Resources and Marketing/Customer Service. In this role you will be coordinating resources to ensure billing and invoices are accurate, the Vice President and General Manager is key to ensuring the processes are in place to deliver quality sales, service, and products from pre-sale to project kickoff to project close outs.

Reporting & Relationships:

The entire Scalo Solar staff will report to this position (including sales, estimating and operations). The Vice President and General Manager reports directly to the Executive Management Team, which consists of the Scalo Companies CEO, COO, and CFO.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership to the organization with a positive attitude and calm demeanor
  • Responsible for the Sales and Operations Department to ensure a proper hand-off process from time of sales through operations to provide the best customer experience possible
  • Work closely with Project and Estimating teams in a collaborative manner to insure the success of each project.
  • Assign and review all bids with your sales and estimating staff.
  • Focus on job preparation of new projects to set the teams up for success and avoid the need to react to issues once projects are in progress.
  • Evaluate internal processes involving sales, operations, and other customer interfacing functions and provide recommendations for procedural efficiencies targeted toward gross margin metric improvements and revenue generating initiatives
  • Work together with in-house sales and operations teams to understand processes for submitting detailed and accurate designs, measurements, estimates, and proposals
  • Be able to perform estimating duties and project administration when needed.
  • Monitor shop drawing and full design packages for Engineering Stamp and permitting, and submittal process, and contract interpretation and administration
  • Administer any in-progress work order changes, approvals, and project close-out process
  • Ensure customer relationship management including but not limited to proactive customer service initiatives, resolving customer concerns in a timely manner, and proactively problem solve for best outcome
  • Ensure process breakdowns are not repeated and corrections are communicated to all staff for future guidance and process improvement
  • Work with Human Resources to assist in interviewing and matching talent to business needs ensuring consistent workforce planning pipelines are available to the business
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to staff and assist in creating a culture of collaboration and learning
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations of your management staff
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends in technology in the solar industry
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures
  • Balance time as necessary between office and field responsibilities.
  • Responsible for participating in weekly Operations Management meetings as well as monthly Foremen's meetings, townhall, and finance/business review meetings
  • Responsible for proper administration of weekly accuracy with paid-to-date reports during Operations meetings with your project management staff
  • Responsible for proper tracking of pending change orders and the processing of the change order approval process with your project management staff
  • Responsible for ensuring staff completion of daily and weekly reporting requirements
  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining company-owned solar arrays

Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a finance related field preferred
  • Strong understanding of the solar industry’s incentives and tax subsidies with the ability to prepare financial models
  • Ability to read and understand architectural and electrical drawings, interpret schedules, and bid data, and enter information into estimating and project management programs
  • Computer and technical skills such as Microsoft Office (required) and ability to learn and administer in house software.
  • Solar, financial, and electrical experience (NABCEP PV Installation certification preferred)
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job including climbing ladders and hatches, walking, sitting, bending, lifting, and kneeling as needed to complete essential job functions
  • Requires experience in solar system production analysis and modeling 
  • Should be familiar with, or have experience in, PV design, including string sizing, wire sizing, inverter sizing and AC/DC ratio, OCPD sizing, and data communication & commissioning of all systems. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence clients and staff from diverse backgrounds
