Job Responsibilities:

The Safety Associate will work closely with the field crews at the Columbus, OH office and the Safety Director to ensure that all aspects of Construction Safety are communicated and followed. The ideal candidate will have experience with inspections, training, OSHA compliance and hold themselves, and others, to the highest safety standards. This role will require the successful candidate to conduct regular job site visits, write action reports, conduct equipment inspections and create solutions to issues that may arise. Knowledge and flexibility will be key characteristics of the individual selected to become a part of our team.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety Director in day-to-day operations such as: site visits and inspections on both a scheduled and random basis to ensure compliance of OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with necessary personnel to aid in the investigation and reporting procedures for all work-related incidents.
  • Create and carry out initiatives to help in the reduction of work-related incidents and injuries through proactive reinforced training campaigns.
  • Facilitate employee safety training and insurance compliance activities.
  • Author and push out updates to all Safety Logs (Toolbox Talks, Safety Reports, Trainings, etc.)
  • Effectively communicate with all levels of management to provide timely feedback of field compliance issues, work-related accidents, and other pertinent safety details
  • Work with Safety Director to regularly update the safety handbook and broadcast changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Assist Project Management and Support Staff as needed.

Job Qualifications:

Position Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a Safety related field and one (1) year of experience or a minimum of two (2) years of proven experience in a Safety role
  • OSHA-10 certification, OSHA-30 certification preferred.
  • Possess customer care focus and have ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Willingness to learn and provide assistance to all operational personnel.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team effectively.
  • Possess a strong sense of accountability and high work standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on accuracy and details
  • Able to work at heights and use ladders.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with no suspensions in the past three (3) years.
  • Physically able to tolerate work outdoors at varying temperatures.
  • Capable of bending and lifting to conduct safety inspections.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management
  • Construction industry experience
  • Spanish Language proficiency
  • Insurance investigating and reporting experience

Salary: $50,000 - $70,000 per year
